Week 38

What a difference a week makes. I fully expected this pregnancy to get increasingly uncomfortable as my due date approaches but actually this week has been more pleasant than the last one. That is not to say it has been uneventful. Beginning with a 7.2 earthquake on Easter Sunday we have been experiencing aftershocks sporadically. We are also experiencing great weather. Spring has sprung in San Diego and while I have seized the opportunity to eat lunch outside all week, the warm weather makes my hands and feet swell more. However, my pelvic pain has subsided and so I am sleeping more soundly and moving around better.
Our little one continues to be active. I have to count her kicks daily and she consistently kicks about 10 times in 10 minutes. I went to the doctor today and she said although she is able to feel the head, my cervix has not dialated yet so, it's going to be a little while longer. That's fine with me. I have 3 more days at work until my maternity leave begins and do not wish to go into labor at the office.
Another highlight of the week is that we bought a new car!!
After deciding that neither my 2-door Civic or Mike's 2-door Focus would make getting a carseat in and out easy, we decided to shop around for a "family" car. Neither of us were ready to commit to a minivan or SUV yet so we settled on a 2008 Honda Accord. It's safe and spacious and gets great gas mileage. Mike has inherited my Civic and is now attempting to sell his car so, if you know anyone in the San Diego area who wants to buy a 2007 Ford Focus hatchback, give him a call.
See you next week!
