Big Girl Stuff

Reese is indeed a big girl now. Her 9 month check up was today and the doctor seemed very pleased with her development. She now weighs just over 20 lbs. which puts her in the 67% percentile and she is 28 and 3/4 inches tall which means she is in the 82% percentile. She has certainly slimmed down due to crawling and I guess she hasn't hit a growth spurt in a while but she is doing great.
Her head however, continues to be huge. She is in the 92% for head circumference. It must be that big brain of hers!

All this growth means she has outgrown her infant car seat so we had to buy her a bigger one. This one should be good up to 70lbs so I'm hoping she'll be at least 6 or 7 before she outgrows this one.But for now we are focusing on 9+ months which is a very fun age. Reese is actually playing with her toys instead of just putting them in her mouth. She loves her new pink scooter that she can ride or push.
So far she can't make it move by herself so Mike and I have to run behind her if she wants a joyride but she does enjoy just sitting on it as you can see.

Reese is able to feed herself a lot now so we enjoy having her at the dinner table with us. She's a good eater (not fussy like her mommy was) and even likes broccoli. In this picture she's eating whole wheat pasta spirals with zucchini and broccoli sauteed in a little olive oil, tossed with oregano and Parmesan cheese.
Delicious!

Winter Warmth

First of all, we sympathize with those of you in the Midwest and on the East Coast who are facing blizzards and windchill factors and therefore are trying not to complain when we see temperatures in the 40s at night. We count our blessings for every minute of sunshine that we get and the following pictures of us at the park and at the beach are in no way intended to mock you. Visitors are welcome if you are ok with baby-sitting and light housework...specifically mopping the floors. Now that our little one is crawling they can't be too clean. We do try to get out on the weekends when we can and enjoy the aforementioned weather. Reese enjoys crawling in (and eating) the grass. Here we are in Balboa Park enjoying the fresh air.

Reese loves practicing her walking.

This weekend we spent the day with Uncle Steven and Aunt Camilla who were passing through Orange County on their way to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They enjoyed meeting Reese and having a chance to thaw out from the Baltimore winter.
Here she is dipping her toes into the Pacific Ocean for the first time. Personally I thought it was cold but she seemed very tickled by it and later enjoyed chewing on her salty toes.

It's quite a nice life she has...me too now that I think about it!
