Here is Reese and Mike just before our plane landed at Midway. She slept for most of the 4 hour flight waking up only twice to eat.
The weather in Chicago was sweltering and sticky the entire week. It made it difficult to cuddle a warm, sweaty baby but of course everyone still wanted to. Reese was more fussy than usual, likely due to the heat. She also wanted to nurse more frequently. I'm not sure if this was due to a growth spurt or dehydration...possibly both. It felt like we had a newborn again with feedings every hour or so.Reese got the chance to spend the day with Grandma and Grandpa Halacy while Mike and I went to visit Uncle Morgan. From what I hear they had a great time. They sang and danced and paraded her around the neighborhood to show her where her mommy grew up.
One of the best things about where I grew up is the two block walk to Lake Michigan . Reese is too little to be out in the sun or even wear sunscreen but we were able to set up some shade for her so that she too could enjoy the beach.
We were joined by one of my oldest friends, Sarah, and her daughter. Clementine is four which is a year older than Sarah and I were when we first met in play group. They flew in from New York City to meet Reese. We have them to thank for her I Heart NY onesie.Sarah and Clementine also joined us in my parent's backyard where we all cooled off in the kiddie pool.
My mom bought Reese this adorable watermelon bathing suit. Wish I had as cute a swim suit!
Before we left San Diego, I prepped Reese for her trip. I told her she was famous in Chicago and that many people wanted to meet her. Another childhood friend, Stacey even drove in with her 3 kids from Cleveland to see us. We had a great time showing her off to all our good friends...even the Chicago butterflies came out to meet her.
