A Day in the Life

What does an 11 month old do all day? Everything!

From the moment Reese calls to us from her crib at 7am she is ready to go. Things can't happen fast enough. We give her a bottle while she gets her diaper changed otherwise she fusses and won't sit still.
We bring her back to our bed to cuddle but what she'd really rather do is crawl all over us to check out the book, lotion, eyeglasses etc. that are on the night stand. Her day has begun and there is no arguing with her about it. Get up!
Luckily she is pretty good at playing independently so she'll sit on the floor in the living room surrounded by her toys as mommy or daddy sit close by and tries to stay awake until the coffee is ready.

After breakfast and a quick nap she is ready for a change of scenery. Sometimes we walk around the neighborhood or hangout by the pool. But more often than not we get in the car and go somewhere fun. Reese has been so many places in San Diego; the museums, the aquarium, the zoo,

the top of Cowles Mountain,
Here she is high above Balboa Park in the aerial tram.
Back at home Reese enjoys exploring. Some of her favorite activities include pulling books off shelves,

and playing with her dishes in the baby food cabinet.

Like many of us, Reese is a big fan of the iPhone. She is so tickled when she see's herself on the screen. This is a video I made using the self-portrait feature.

The nice thing about Reese being so active is that she wears herself out. I mentioned that she wakes up at 7am but she also goes to bed for the night at 7:30 so we have almost 12 blissful hours of peace...which is important because we have to do it all over again tomorrow.

10 months

Hello readers!
I know you have had to wait over a month for a blog entry but I promise this one will be worth it. I have lot's of great pictures to show you and some development news to report. Reese has two new teeth, on the bottom, (which makes 8 total). She babbles constantly, practicing her verbal skills. She now knows exactly who Mama is and who Dada is and calls us by those names... which we love! Plus, she is starting to stand by herself.

It's fun to watch Reese gain confidence each day. She moves so quickly, it's actually getting tricky to take good pictures of her because now they often come out blurry. She is can stand without holding on to anything. although, after about 5 seconds she gets nervous and puts her hands down.
Look Ma, no hands!
She's pretty brave so I imagine it won't take long until she masters it.

She races around the house on her hands and knees and thinks nothing of diving off the bed or the couch to grab something that catches her eye on the floor.

To help her burn off some of that energy, we recently signed Reese up for a month of classes at Gymboree which is an indoor playroom with lots of things for kids to climb on/under/through and lots of fun things to explore.
It gives Reese a chance to interact with other kids which is nice since she is not in daycare yet. Reese is extremely social and loves the activities they do. And, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure she was the cutest baby there. (Mike says I'm not wrong.)
