On the Move

Happy New Year everyone!

So far 2011 is off to a good start for the San Diego Sandors. As many of you know Mike is now a college graduate. (YAY!!!) He completed his BS in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in December so now his #2 priority is finding a job. His #1 priority is taking care of Reese. His full-time position as Stay-at-Home-Dad began on January 3rd when I returned to work. And boy have they been busy!

Poor Reese has been fighting a cold pretty much since New Year's. It started out in her sinuses and then turned into a pesky cough that won't seem to go away, but that hasn't slowed her down at all. In fact, just the opposite. She has started crawling!!

Unfortunately I missed it because I am now back to work almost full time (32 hours) but Mike was there to catch it on video and dutifully sent it to me. (Thank goodness for smart phones!)

It's amazing how learning to crawl has changed everything. She is finally sleeping through the night. On occasion she wakes up around 4am for a quick diaper change but basically she sleeps through for 10 hours. Too bad all the sleeping at night has shortened her naps. She typically takes two short (45 min.) naps in the morning and then a longer one around 4pm. Our next step is to combine the morning naps into a longer one but for now we're just counting our blessings.

Reese's appetite has also picked up and she is no longer content with the vegetable purees we have been making her. She LOVES finger food. So far she has tried, scrambled egg yolks, banana, kiwi, apple, rice and cooked carrots, but her favorites are toast...

(check out the video of Reese devouring a piece of toast:)

...and Cheerios. Here is Reese, just up from her nap, before her Cheerios:

And those aren't even Honey Nut flavored!
